A child’s life is changed when he/she begins to acquire the literacy skills of reading, writing, and spelling and to feel confident in the classroom.

George Michael 18 scaledAn ALP Tutor’s life is changed when she/he sees the light of understanding, the “Aha!” moments that happen for a child who has been struggling with reading aloud in front of his peers or who has experienced daily failures in spelling words that everyone else seems to get easily.

To become an ALP Tutor, a volunteer completes ALP Tutor Training and commits to provide free one-on-one, long-term tutoring to student at a under resourced school.

“This is the best training I have ever experienced. I am leaving feeling prepared, excited and inspired!”

“I want to express my gratitude for this organization. I was inspired by the work that you do for our youngest readers and for enriching the community-school relationships. Schools just can’t do it alone. I found each day of training to be so intentionally planned, provocative, and thoughtfully paced for your learners. I wish all teachers were given the same amount of time to collaborate and learn in such a risk-free, supportive environment.”
