Applications continue to be accepted. When you train to be an ALP Tutor, you are committing to working with an ALP Student for 60 sessions, meeting with them either in-person or virtually twice a week.

A child’s life is changed when he/she begins to acquire the literacy skills of reading, writing, and spelling and to feel confident in the classroom.

An ALP Tutor’s life is changed when she/he sees the light of understanding, the “Aha!” moments that happen for a child who has been struggling with reading aloud in front of his peers or who has experienced daily failures in spelling words that everyone else seems to get easily.

To become an ALP Tutor, a volunteer completes ALP Tutor Training and commits to provide free one-on-one, long-term tutoring to a low income child.
