Dear X:
As you know, I have been a staunch supporter of the Augustine Literacy Project (ALP) in Charlotte for years. My passion for this organization stems from the life-changing difference it makes for young people.
ALP is the only organization in Charlotte providing free, twice-weekly tutoring to children struggling with literacy for as long as they need this assistance. Using a science-based methodology to teach reading, ALP unlocks learning—and the future—for young people. And by working in Title 1 schools, ALP serves the children who need this help the most.
You may be less aware that Charlotte is experiencing a literacy crisis. According to the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, a group of business leaders working to promote economic vitality and equity in our city, there are currently 20,000 CMS students in grades K-3 who need supplemental reading instruction.
In response, ALP is working to serve more children than ever before. To help make this possible, I am asking you to invite your friends to Rise and Read, ALP’s signature fundraiser. This virtual event will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 9 – 9:30 am. The program will feature Tim Belk, former CEO of Belk, ALP tutors and staff, and Steve Hall, our new executive director.
You can register for this event by clicking here. (If you can’t attend on 3/22, you can watch the program later with the link provided; but please register!)
Finally, please share this invitation with everyone in your network by forwarding the invitation below and posting it on social media.
Thank you for your supporting ALP in this work—it means the world to me.
